UC Davis Medical Team to Kenya

Please Support the UC Davis Medical Team to Kenya - March 23 – April 5th 2025

Fundraising goal: $40,000

Kenya has made great strides in controlling AIDS and other infectious diseases. However, now that Kenyans are living longer, chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer are on the rise in the backdrop of persistent poverty in many parts of the country. By 2030, the death toll from chronic diseases in Kenya will surpass those from infectious disease, maternal & newborn death, and malnutrition combined.

To support HEART'S efforts to provide quality chronic disease management to underserved Kenyans, a multidisciplinary team of clinical professors, medical professionals, and students from UC Davis will travel to Kenya to support Kenyans already at work. Our team will provide training & education as well as participate in multiple medical camps completing assessments & treatment as appropriate.

This second-year project is partially funded by a grant from UC Davis Global Affairs. More funding is needed for medical supplies, equipment, medications, to support Kenyan health care professional's travel & participation, and to offset the expenses of team members not covered by the grant.
